Fire Evacuation Procedure
Fire Exits
• Main Hall: 2 fire exits (doors at side of hall).
• Kitchen: 1 fire exit.
• Muster Point: Playing field.
If You Discover a Fire
1. Raise the alarm immediately by shouting “FIRE” and activating the nearest fire alarm call point.
2. Do not attempt to tackle the fire unless it is very small and you have been trained to use the fire extinguisher safely.
On Hearing the Fire Alarm
1. Leave the building immediately using the nearest available fire exit.
2. Do not stop to collect personal belongings.
3. Assist anyone who may need help evacuating.
4. Do not use the kitchen door unless it is your closest safe route.
5. Close doors behind you if possible to slow the spread of fire.
Assembly (Muster) Point
• Once outside, proceed directly to the Playing Field.
• Stay together and remain at the muster point until further instructions are given.
Checks and Responsibilities
• Event Organiser (Hirer) / Duty Volunteer will:
- Call 999 and request the Fire Service.
- Ensure everyone has evacuated.
- Take a register or headcount at the muster point.
• Do not re-enter the building until declared safe by the Fire Service.
General Safety Notes
• Keep all fire exits and escape routes clear at all times.
• Fire extinguishers and alarms should be checked regularly as part of hall maintenance.
• Hirers are responsible for briefing their group about exits at the start of each event.
